Yesterday, Apple unveiled a new MacBook Pro with all sorts of new features. Only one day before the rumor arose that Apple will make an update in the autumn. But Apple was fast here. In addition to a massive performance boost, the new model can probably become one of the most expensive laptops in the company if you choose the best possible hardware.
It’s no secret that many Apple products can quickly cost thousands of dollars in the highest configurations. While Apple has not generally increased the prices for the new MacBook Pro models, it can still be expensive. The model series presented yesterday has a number of new configurations that are driving up the price considerably.
If you decide on a model with maximum computing power, 2 TB flash memory, and 16 GB of RAM, the new model will again cost 5079 euros this year and will, therefore, remain unchanged. However, Apple allows for an even better configuration in 2018. You can expand the main memory from 16 GB to 32 GB for an additional charge of 480 Euros. However, it becomes really expensive if you prefer the 4 TB version instead of the 2 TB SSD. Then an additional 3,840 Euro is due and the total price rises to 7,959 Euro. So a maximum upgrade to MacBook Pro costs as much as a Mac Pro with the best possible hardware.
However, you can spend even more. Apple announced new leather cases, which cost 229 Euros. If the cover isn’t enough, it’s definitely worth thinking about an AppleCare Protection Plan. This costs 349 euros, raising the total price to 8,537 euros. In contrast, a standard 27-inch iMac with maximum features can be purchased for as little as 2,000 Euros.
