This is the new Chrome ad filter, see how it works?

One day after the activation of the ad blocking system in Chrome, Google wanted to detail how it is going to carry out its operation.

Remember that this is not an ad blocking system as we have been known to date. But instead, a filter that will block ads from those web pages that do not comply with the Better Ads standards, with the idea that users can Get a better browsing experience on the web without being affected by ads that hurt you.

The Better Ads standards have been established by a coalition of companies under the Coalition for Better Ads, establishing these standards through a study carried out through surveys to more than 40,000 users in North America and Europe. Google knows that some ads themselves may violate Better Ads standards, but in most cases, lousy advertising experiences blame it on website owners.

In this regard, it offers a series of tools so that these owners can check their websites to see if they comply with the Better Ads standards. If not, they can address the problems encountered, for which they will be offered all the information in a specific way, taking the appropriate measures and re-verify them again.

On the Chrome side

In the case of websites that violate the Better Ads standards, the filtering system in Chrome will block requests and prevent advertising from being displayed in them.

To do this, Chrome will first check if the website belongs to a site that does not meet the standards, and if so, will later compare the network requests of the page with a list of URL patterns related to known ads. In case of matches, it will block requests.

Employed employers will be based on EasyList’s public filtering rules and integrate those patterns that match many of the advertising providers, including those of Google itself.

On the side of users

In this regard, users will receive a notification in Chrome, both on the desktop and on Android devices, warning them that the website they have accessed has blocked ads, giving them the option to deactivate this configuration individually for the same. Site.

Google points out that since last February 12, 42% of sites that did not meet the standards of Better Ads have taken action on the matter and corrected the deficiencies found so that they are now approved to offer publicity, something that they expected to see.

Those websites that are not approved will have 30 days from the notification to solve the problems because otherwise, the blocking of ads in them will begin.
