The next AMD Navi GPUs have been discovered in the updated MacOS Mojave source code. This is a very interesting finding because it reveals different GPU models for this architecture, e.g. Navi 16, Navi 12, Navi 10 and Navi 9.

The file “AMDRadeon6000HWServiceskext” contains references to Navi 16, Navi 12, Navi 10 and Navi 9, probably these are the names of the product variants, not the code names of four different chips. In other words, the numbers must describe how many calculation units are enabled for each device.

The fact that these entries already exist could indicate that Navi is much closer than we actually thought. Rumors about a possible launch in July don’t seem as far-fetched as they might have seemed.

There seems to be no doubt about the references to AMD’s new graphics architecture

Navi is considered the successor of the architecture of Polaris and Vega. AMD will focus on the mid-range market with its new low-power 7nm Navi architecture. In fact, even Mark Papermaster confirmed that the Radeon VII will currently be AMD’s highest level graphics card using the Vega architecture.

According to the available information, Navi high-end graphics cards will arrive some time after their mid- and low-end counterparts, while Radeon VII will be the leading exponent in the consumer graphics card segment.
