A few weeks ago, MSI talked in an interview at the MSI Gaming New Appreciation Conference in Shanghai. Several brand executives answered questions about products, launches and more. We left a compilation of the best issues discussed.
Will the trade war between the US and China affect processor and GPU prices?
Liao Wei (Deputy General Manager, Global Multimedia Business Unit, MSI) said:
“As NVIDIA video board chips are processed by TSMC in Taiwan, memories of Samsung in South Korea and Hynix in the US, there is a small chance that prices will rise.
“On the processor side, it is expected that Intel will rise, while AMD is not affected.”
Why are NVIDIA GeForce RTX cards already out of stock and difficult to get?
said Liao Wei:
“The RTX 2080 shows are holding up quite well, but the RTX 2080 Ti shows were relatively low due to production yields. And although Ti are the strongest, the trend indicates that NVIDIA wants to focus on 2080 production.
Wei also highlighted the complexities of this new generation. While the RTX 2080 Ti requires about 2,600 components, a GTX 1080 Ti needs only 1,600. This explains the shortfall a little before you could produce about 3500 1080 Ti per day and now there’ s only about 1800 RTX 2080 left to produce per day.
