Microsoft removes the controversial message from Windows 10 while installing the external web browser

Microsoft has decided to withdraw the warning message against installing Chrome or Firefox in Windows 10 preview versions, which was seen only by the “dozens” of testers, but in reality, this message was received with much criticism. Additionally, Microsoft states that Windows 10 users will always be able to select any browser.

A few days ago, preview versions of Windows 10 began to display messages displaying when you installed Firefox or Chrome. In its contents, there was the information that the system already has a browser in the form of Microsoft Edge and there is no need to install a new one. Of course, the window could be closed and the installation of the new browser resumed.

There was a criticism at Microsoft for this act. However, the company admitted that this was a test carried out with insiders only. Such warnings were not displayed on the computers of normal users. The messages were completely withdrawn, and a Redmond representative added that Windows 10 users will always be able to install any browser that best suits their needs.

Microsoft Edge is an integrated browser in Windows 10, but it can’t attract too much user interest. Currently, the share on computers is only about 4% (according to StatCounter).
