Meta officially launches Threads, the new Twitter competitor

Instagram presented Threads, a new social network that seeks to compete with Twitter. Available on Android and iOS, Threads seeks to leverage Instagram’s user base to achieve significant growth.

Threads is notable for its integration with Instagram, allowing users to log in and find their friends through their existing accounts. Those with both accounts can display their Threads membership in their Instagram bios. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg was the first to join, taking the top spot.

The new social network, Threads, shares similarities with other text-based platforms such as Twitter, Bluesky and Mastodon. Users can write posts with a character limit and express support, comment and share other users’ posts.
