macOS: How to solve the problem of the dancing desks

Such a problem is not a real one and is often the source of many questions. Since this is the thirteenth time I’ve been asked and it won’t be the last time, I’m going to put it in writing to link it up.

macOS: How to solve the problem of the dancing desks

In general, the problem is usability and how MacOS is configured by default. The desktop management system has a feature designed to make the applications easier to use… but this help is intended for the consumer user, i.e. the one who works randomly with applications here and there does not need a regulated environment in which they work with certain applications that must be ordered to be able to locate them quickly.

The feature is called automatically rearranging spaces based on the most recent use and makes the work a real madness when desktop use becomes heavy and you have different browser windows, for example, with documents and applications.

This feature is in System Preferences > Mission Control.

To achieve a stable desktop environment, all you have to do is turn it off and it will stop the dance. By default, it is enabled and if you are wondering why your desks were dancing, this feature is to blame.
