Lexar today unveiled a new range of USB 3.0 flash devices, the most important innovation is the integration of a fingerprint reader. It also features high-speed data transfer and an acceptable security approach. The name is Lexar JumpDrive Fingerprint F35, and the company says that its commercial and individual use can be satisfactory.
In Lexar’s press release announcing the device, the company assures that this launch is part of the expansion of its line of JumpDrive Fingerprint USB drives. In terms of storage options, the company announced that its new USB 3.0 sticks will have capacities ranging from 32GB to 256GB and will operate at speeds of up to 150MB/sec. In this sense, the 32GB drive is already available pre-sale through Amazon.
The announcement shows that this is an ideal device for corporate professionals and photographers who need the best protection for their files. Joel Boquiren, Lexars Director of Global Marketing, said:
“The F35 combines reliable, secure data storage with biometric technology to prevent unauthorized access to your files and adds an extra layer of security to your hard drive through the use of fingerprint authentication.”
The company reported that the fingerprint reader of these devices can be used with up to 10 different fingerprints that can unlock the device in less than a second. To do this, Lexar has activated 256-bit AES encryption and uses plug-and-play. All drives are Mac and PC compatible.
The 32GB version costs $33, and the 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB versions have unit costs of $50, $90, and $170, respectively.
