The news comes from the event Transform that they are working on a Lenovo Folding Notebook or laptop. It was at the Lenovo TechWorld event that was held in June last year, in which the Chinese giant Lenovo first showed the world the CPlus and Folio. These are the concepts of folding mobile capable of becoming smartwatch and tablet that can fold in half. At that time we were surprised, but since then there is a little information this topic.
However, now, after almost one year of folding smartphone technology, Lenovo has raised its voice again on this subject. And now they have made the world clear about its vision of the folding devices, that goes beyond smartphones and tablets but also wants to encompass the folding notebook market.
As interesting but impractical, at first sight
The concept was unveiled Tuesday, 20 June 2017 to the world at an event held in New York. And later folding notebook idea is shared via the company’s official Twitter account. The publication does not reveal any details of the concept. They Only mention that perhaps someday we will see a portable folding laptop.
A foldable PC? Maybe someday. Just a concept for now. #LenovoTransform
Lenovo Folding Notebook A Reality?
It’s little information of folding laptop/notebook that we can comment on the device. But it seems the flexible display is composed of a flexible screen /advance material with an embedded keyboard. And even appears like the normal red ThinkPad cursor in the middle of the keys. The screen would have “new technology” that would allow writing directly on it with a stylus pen.
They also cite “advanced materials,” which will be possible to talk to the laptop. But nothing else we know about it.
Flexible Display and Circuitry: Advanced Materials
That is only a concept of how the company imagines personal computing in the upcoming years, without meaning that we will indeed see it conceived. On the other hand, although the flexible panels exist, their production is still costly and challenging. Also, this is one of the principal reasons why we still do not see these flexible devices in our daily lives.
Another thing to imagine is the folding circuitry. How this folding notebook from Lenovo will power up and what flexible circuitry is going to take part in this project? Who knows? Technology is evolving by leaps and bounds so perhaps in a couple of years we would laugh at how we did not believe that these concepts mature in a relatively such a short period.
