Keyboard shortcuts to master YouTube like an expert

Almost all old school users (and of course many new students) love keyboard shortcuts. Although the graphical interfaces are so simple that it’s getting harder to let go of the mouse, it’s always good to remember a few tricks for such popular applications as YouTube. Here are our favorite shortcuts to become a YouTube master.

  • You can control playback without clicking on the bar, with just three buttons together: With J backspace, K for stop and L for forwarding.
  • I’m sure you already knew that, but you can pause and resume a video with the space bar.
  • With the numbers 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 9, you can advance to a certain percentage of the video (very useful if it is long).
  • Activates full-screen mode with the F key and returns to the normal screen with the Escape key.
  • Instead of clicking the speaker as a noob, press the M button to turn the sound on or off.
  • One more word about sound: Use the up or down arrow keys to raise or lower the sound in 5% steps.
  • Activate the subtitles with the C button. If you want to increase the size, press the + button and if you want to decrease it….. yes, it is the key -.
  • If you are in a hurry, you can increase the playback speed with the > button. As you may have guessed, the < key is for reduction.
  • You can use the tab key to access the buttons on the interface without using the mouse. Press Enter or Space to activate the one you are interested in.
  • The easiest way to start or end a video is to use the start and end buttons on your keyboard. It’s a good time to put them on the market.
  • If you like playlists, point to uppercase + P to go to the next video and uppercase + N to the previous one.
