Without any doubt, Apple is experimenting with prototypical data gadgets in the style of Microsoft Hololens or Google Cardboard Glasses. The first augmented reality product from Apple is likely to be for an iPhone 8 Augmented Reality.

According to a report by Bloomberg , “hundreds of engineers” are working on software and hardware for Apple.  Augmented Reality branch of Apple. This includes the camera name which comes for the iPhone, which has AR-specific features with the double lenses.

One of them has function to enable the focus point of a recording that you will look later. This looks similar to light field cameras. Another new function that can isolate an object from the background, such as the head of a person, and change this object independently throughout rest of the image.

With augmented reality sensors it is also be possible to change people and objects with digital effects, similar to Snapchat. According to the report, this would require additional 3D depth cameras and special software.

Apple has access to both, among other things, from the strategic acquisitions of the German AR company Metaio and PrimeSense’s Israeli 3D scanning specialists. So it is a question mark here that whether the AR sensors are already installed in the upcoming iPhone or not? While according to Bloomberg is still unclear. AR glasses are not however an alternative as they are not yet technically advance.

Augmented reality with the smartphone is the pioneer for spatial content

For this reason Google has been using Augmented Reality since the beginning of the year with the smartphone. Manufacturers of Android smartphones such as Asus or Lenovo are already integrating Google’s 3D scanner into their devices.

On the basis of Smartphone-AR, an app-economy could grow much faster for augmented reality. So in the next few years there will be a smooth transition which will require a complementary terminal which is not for holding in the hand, but is carried on the head.

At the end of February, the Chinese  Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities spoke up. He says the iPhone 8 will have an integrated forward facing 3D camera.

The repeated statements in favor of AR by Apple CEO Tim Cook also leave a little doubt that Apple wants to enter the AR market promptly.
