Intel confirms that Sapphire Rapids “HEDT” CPUs are going to be available ‘very soon. The company is already preparing for the launch of its new generation of workstation processors.
Intel Sapphire Rapids workstation processors are coming very soon
The Sapphire Rapids-WS generation of workstation processors is coming soon. Intel promises that workstation users are going to get new CPUs that are going to elevate the performance of the platform.
Intel posted a tweet where it is previewing this release, which could be unveiled on January 3 during CES 2023.
The teaser would be an indication that the Intel Sapphire Rapids for workstations could see the light earlier than rumored, we are talking about the month of February. The company says final validation tests are taking place right now and are “really good.

The new Intel Xeon-WS ‘Sapphire Rapids’ 4th generation processors are going to feature a maximum of 56 cores and 112 threads with a TDP of 350W. Of course, there will be other more modest models, but these are the maximum cores they will have. The new processors are going to occupy a new LGA4677 socket and is going to support DDR5 memory and a PCIe 5.0 interface.
The top-of-line, the W-3400, is expected to offer up to 112 PCIe lanes and support for 8 DDR5-4800 lanes. Meanwhile, the W-2400 model features 64 PCIe lanes and support for up to 4 memory channels.
Intel is going to have the difficult task of competing against the future Threadripper series from AMD, which can offer up to 96 cores and 192 Zen 4 threads. We will keep you informed.
