The next-generation discrete Intel Xe graphics card for the gaming enthusiast market will offer all the benefits you would expect from a modern game-oriented GPU, such as support for ray tracing.

According to the latest information, the discrete Intel Xe HPG graphics cards will be launched in 2021 and will be manufactured using 10nm technology.

The information comes from the Videocardz website, which has informed that Intel plans to launch its first line of discrete graphics cards specifically for the gaming segment.

According to the leak, Intel’s graphics card line will be driven by the Xe-HPG GPU. This particular GPU is another category within the Xe microarchitecture family. It lies between the Xe-LP and the Xe-HP and is aimed primarily at PC gamers. The Xe-HPG GPU is expected to have up to 4096 cores on its flagship chip.

Here are the actual EU figures for the various Intel Xe HP MCM-based GPUs together with the estimated core and TFLOP figures

  • Xe HP (12.5) 1-tile GPU: 512 UE [est: 4096 cores, 10.6 TFLOPs 1.3 GHz, 150W].
  • Xe HP (12.5) 2-tile GPU: 1024 UEs [Hours: 8192 cores, 21.2 1.3 GHz, TFLOPs, 300W].
  • Xe HP (12.5) 4-tile GPU: 2048 UEs [est: 16,384 cores, 42.3 TFLOPs 1.3 GHz, 400W/500W].

Of course, Intel may opt for a higher EU number of its game-specific Xe HPG GPUs, but that remains to be seen until the final specifications are announced.

It looks like we’ll have to wait until next year before Intel seriously competes with AMD and Nvidia in the market for gaming graphics cards.
