Intel has gone through the Open Compute project Summit to unveil its new Optane SSD DC P4801X storage devices, which come with an M.2 form factor and a capacity of up to 375 GB.
Optane SSD DC P4801X is Intel’s next step with 3D Xpoint
The Optane SSD DC P4801X is presented in an M.2 form factor. That is to offer a storage solution with a very high density, its capacity reaches 375 GB. High-capacity Xpoint 3D memory chips have been used in its construction. And are accompanied by an advanced seven-channel controller. That promises to achieve very high speeds. So, a total of seven packages of Xpoint 3D memory have been used, with four dies each.
For the time being, no reference has been made to the price of this Optane SSD DC P4801X storage unit. Although we do not expect it to be cheap, given the high manufacturing costs of the 3D Xpoint memory.
