Following the excellent performance of the Core i5-12400, the first tests of the upcoming Core i7-12700 have also been leaked, which will offer great single-core and multi-core performance, where it practically matches the Ryzen 9 5900X at a much lower price.
Testing was done on Geekbench and confirms that like the i7-12700K, the Core i7-12700 will have 8 powerful cores and four highly efficient cores, giving a total of 12 cores and 20 threads. In testing with the Z690 Taichi and 32 GB of DDR5 memory, a score of 1768 was achieved in the single-core test and 13843 in the multi-core test. For comparison, the Ryzen 9 5900X scores 1670 and 14100 in these tests, so this new Intel processor will far surpass it in terms of price-performance ratio.
According to initial retail data, the Core i7-12700 will cost around $380, while the Ryzen 9 5900X will cost $550, which is a big price difference and an almost imperceptible performance difference.
The Core i7-12700 is expected to launch along with the rest of Alder Lake’s “No-K” line between late January and early February, so it will be some time before we see it on the market. We’ll keep you updated on the latest news, so stay tuned to HD Technology.
