Deep Learning is getting more and more popular among big giants. Intel joins the trend to invest in more technology and human capital to harness the potential of artificial intelligence to drive its products.
Vertex.AI is one of the latest acquisitions to be integrated into the Artificial Intelligence Products Group. Remember that Vertex.AI is a startup focused on deep learning, and its vision is to bring this technology to all platforms and devices through its flagship product PlaidML, as mentioned in its presentation last October:
Today Vertex.ai introduces PlaidML, our open source, portable, deep learning engine. Our mission is to make deep learning accessible to all people on all devices, and we create PlaidML to make this possible.
As part of the acquisition, the full potential of PlaidML will now be integrated into Intel:
Intel plans to further develop PlaidML as an open source project, and we will soon switch it to the Apache 2.0 license. Supporting a variety of hardware will continue to be a priority for the PlaidML project.
The 7-man Vertex.AI team will also join Intel’s Artificial Intelligence Group to further develop its vision on a different level under Intel’s leadership.
