Intel announced that it has acquired Rivet Networks, a company known for its networking solutions, and whose Killer family of products is widely used in various game consoles. Intel said the acquisition would boost “Intel’s Wi-Fi offering for PC platforms”.
The world is increasingly dependent on Wi-Fi and a good Internet connection. According to Intel, an average household today has 11 Wi-Fi enabled devices – a number that is likely to continue to grow. Intel also cites reports that more than 90 percent of Internet traffic is Wi-Fi. So it’s not hard to understand why Intel is interested in Rivet Networks’ technology and software.
Intel and RivetNetworks have a long history of working together, having joined forces to produce the Killer AX1650, and Intel intends that this acquisition will benefit the company’s future products. Intel said: ” Key Rivet Networks products, including its Killer brand, will be integrated into Intel’s broader PC Wi-Fi portfolio.
