With the latest version of NVIDIA NVFlash, version 5.513.0, users can now read and write the BIOS on Turing-based graphics cards, including the brand new RTX 2080 Ti, 2080 and 2070. These include the brand new RTX 2080 Ti, 2080, and 2070. Although this may seem commonplace at first due to differences in performance between the graphics cards, there is hope that overflying the BIOS can lead to noticeable performance improvements.
In response to the release of NVFlash 5.513.0, TechPowerUp has released a new trial version of the GPU-Z application that supports the ability to store the BIOS of Turing-based graphics cards. With these two updates, performance enthusiasts now have the ability to save their BIOS with GPU-Z and flash a new BIOS on their RTX series cards with NVFlash.
Please note that BIOS memory should continue to function properly on older NVIDIA graphics cards, but additional testing is required due to the number of code changes. New security controls have been introduced as a precaution to avoid problems. However, the developers of the application are not responsible for any damage caused by poor flashing of a graphics card’s BIOS.
For those who are already used to flashing the BIOS of their graphics cards, this shouldn’t be a problem. On the other hand, for those who want to try it for the first time, it is advisable to document well to avoid disasters.
