Google has announced the purchase of Xively, a division of LogMeIn, specializing in IoT. They comment that it is expected that in 2020 there will be 20 billion things connected to the internet. That will generate a considerable amount of data that will have to be stored and analyzed. That is the goal of Google, be prepared to create IoT solutions that manage to connect, manage and analyze billions of intelligent objects.

So, this acquisition, subject to closing conditions, will complement Google Cloud’s efforts to provide a full IoT service. Also, Xively has a robust IoT platform that will accelerate the timeline of its clients, from the IoT vision to the product, helping to have a more connected business in less time.
So, through this acquisition, Cloud IoT Core will obtain deep IoT technology and engineering expertise. Also, that includes advanced device management, messaging and various other Xively features. They want Google customers to benefit from the feature set and the flexible Xively device management platform, along with the security and scale of Google Cloud, responsible for data analysis and machine learning.
