In mid-February, the Google Registry announced the launch of.dev, a brand new top-level domain (TLD) for developers and technology. 
Ben Fried, presented as VP, CIO & Chief Domains enthusiast Google, explained that :
“Like our recent launches for.app and.page, this new domain is secured by default as it requires an HTTPS connection to all.dev websites. This protects visitors to your site from advertising malware and tracking injection from Internet service providers, as well as from espionage when using open WiFi networks. With any.dev Web site, you can help make the Web a HTTPS future everywhere.
And since charity starts at home, Google already has domains in.dev like web.dev or opensource.dev. The first domain aims to help developers learn and apply modern web features that they use both on their own pages and on their web applications (note that developers can use the Test My Website button to get some information about how they have used best practices and performance, as well as how they can improve their websites). The second area, which is also instructive, aims to teach the Internet user a little more about what “open source” is. ”
Other companies have also used .dev, such as Level Access, Mozilla, Salesforce, Glitch or Stripe.

This time Google announced that.dev is available to everyone through the registrar of your choice.
Adam Seligman, VP, Developer Relations, said:
“We see.dev as a home for developers. From tools to programming languages to blogs.dev is the best place for all the incredible things you build. In recent months, we have started or restarted many of our own development sites on the new domain.”

To encourage developers and technophiles to use.dev, Google has announced that a free.dev domain will be allocated for one year to all those who have applied for a ticket to Google I / O 2019.
