A very interesting update has been added to the Google Assistant that offers multilingual support.
According to the Google team, the Assistant will be able to understand and speak more than one language at a time. It is an interesting solution for bilingual households, as family members can switch languages without complications when the assistant requests a task.
Until now, only one language was possible in the assistant, and it was necessary to change it manually if you wanted to use another language. This is a difficult task that would be very difficult for families to accomplish. Now, with the new dynamic, all you have to do is set up the two languages you want to use, and the wizard is always ready to identify each of them.
This new dynamic is made possible by the potential of LangID technology and its models, perfected since 2013, as the Google team explains.
The following video shows how this new dynamic, which the Google Assistant proposes, works.
Currently Google Assistant supports two languages, English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Japanese and German. But they promise to add more languages in the coming months.
And in the near future, the assistant may be able to process more than two languages simultaneously, as this is the new goal of the Google team.
