Gigabyte’s X399 AORUS series is complemented by a new motherboard, the X399 AORUS PRO. This is a further addition to their AMD Threadripper compatible product line, with a slightly more modest model than the ‘Gaming 7’, but it is still a motherboard with many features.
The VRM motherboard uses fourth-generation digital PWM controllers and third-generation integrated power circuits of the server class. These are, of course, located under heat sinks to keep temperatures under control at all times.
The CPU socket in the middle of the motherboard is flanked by eight DDR4 DIMM slots (four on each side) that support up to 128GB of DDR4 memory.

In terms of connectivity, there are eight SATA3 6G ports and three free M.2 slots for NVMe PCIe or SATA SSDs. These M.2 slots are directly connected to the available CPU rails. This means it works faster than the chipset-connected ones. Two of these M.2 slots support a form factor of up to 22110 M.2, while the only 2280 M.2 form factor slot is equipped with a heat sink.
On board, we have a USB 3.1 Gen 1 with a USB 3.1 Gen 2 head and two more USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports. One of them is a Type A and another a Type C. Meanwhile there are eight more USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports on the rear I/O.
There is also a Gigabit Ethernet port available via the Intel i211AT GbE LAN. As for the audio subsystem, it uses a Realtek ALC1220 120dB HD audio codec.
The X399 AORUS Pro motherboard id priced for $279, which is about $150 cheaper than the X399 AORUS XTREME model.
