Gigabyte has launched its RTX 3060 LHR graphics card series, which includes five models, three triple-fan, and two dual-fan models.
Gigabyte RTX 3060 LHR is announced with five models
This new series of graphics cards use an Ethereum mining limiter in an attempt by Nvidia to discourage miners from buying these models. With the introduction of the CMP graphics cards, Nvidia has a corresponding offering ready, which should provide some breathing room for the gaming GPU segment.
The entire RTX 30 series of graphics cards will have a new lineup of models with LHR limiters, not only on the RTX 3060 but also on not-yet-announced models like the RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti.
However, this is the first time Nvidia tried to add a limiter, they did it on the RTX 3060 with a new driver. That limiter was removed by Nvidia, only to later announce a new ‘LHR’ limiter, which we don’t know exactly how it works. What we do know is that the specs of the LHR models will be the same as the non-LHR models.
The Gigabyte 3060 LHR variants belong to the Elite, Gaming OC, and Vision variants. The regular models have reference clock speeds, while the OC models have clock speeds of 30 MHz.
Currently, there is no information about the price and release date of these graphics cards, which is expected in the coming weeks.
