Facebook is testing a new dynamic to help users to be free from repetitive application notifications.
Some Facebook users have noticed a new option to mute app notifications, under the typical “Do Not Disturb” tab. This button can be activated and deactivated as many times as desired, either manually or by setting a time period.
The user will be able to choose time intervals ranging from 30 minutes to 8 hours. At the end of the specified time, notifications will be activated with all the corresponding updates. So users can rest for a while from Facebook notifications, or leave them idle if they are in a meeting or want to concentrate on study or work.
As mentioned in TC, this mode is being tested on both Facebook and Instagram. And apparently, it’s also testing other options, which give users the ability to turn off the vibration or sound of notifications.
At the moment, these new features are part of the regular Facebook tests, and only a small group of users are testing their performance. This new dynamic that Facebook seeks to implement seems to be part of the trend that many technology companies are adopting in favour of digital welfare.
