Facebook to launch Reels to compete with TikTok

A few months ago Instagram introduced Reels in its app, a new feature with which it wants to compete with TikTok thanks to its vertical videos. This feature is now expanding, as it has been confirmed that it will also be introduced on Facebook. The social network will have a dedicated section with these Reels, so they also want to compete with TikTok.

This section is currently being implemented in the social network’s app for Android and iOS and should soon be available worldwide on the social network.

The introduction of Reels on Facebook offers users a number of possibilities. Not only will we be able to watch these videos in a dedicated section with a range of content that may be of interest to us or that our friends have uploaded, but we will also be able to create our own Reels directly in the app. You don’t need the Instagram app to create them.

Users’ profiles will be able to view the reels they have uploaded, which will also show the number of views the video has received. This feature is touted as a new way for content creators to reach a larger audience, as it is not limited to Instagram. The social network is also looking to expand its paid content program, but it will be limited to the United States for now.

Facebook Reels are already being tested in the U.S. before rolling out globally on the social network’s Android and iOS app. No dates have been given for these plans yet, so we’ll have to wait for more information in the coming weeks.
