EVGA announces the XR1: the first OBS-certified video capture device

EVGA has announced the XR1, the first acquisition device certified by Open Broadcaster Software (OBS). This is currently the most popular open-source streaming platform. The company reports that it has done all of the development with the gamer market in mind, especially the streamers, so several aspects were specifically designed to make life easier for such audiences.

Starting with the design, the frame has a matt black surface with ARGB lights. The XR1 is fully plug-and-play capable, which means that no drivers are required for operation. We simply plug the device in and get started with OBS.

A type C USB 3.0 port is required for capture. For video input and audio capture, the XR1 uses an HDMI 2.0 port. It supports HDR recording with a resolution of up to 4K at 60 FPS.

The XR1 is also equipped with Advanced Pass-Through technology. To set the mode, simply press the button above, which outputs video at a refresh rate of 144 Hz while maintaining 60 FPS 4K.

In order to receive the OBS certification seal, the devices must pass a series of rigorous tests. The agency itself confirms that the hardware has been thoroughly tested to certify the quality it provides. To date, the XR1 board is the only one that has passed the tests.

This seal ensures that the product is suitable for catching. As the only model that has received this guarantee, the EVGA has established itself as the market leader and has developed the best option to date.

The EVGA has not yet published what price is charged for the capture card. Nevertheless, the company confirmed that only limited quantities will be produced. This indicates that not all markets in the world are served. The company will select some regions of the world that will have access to the technology.
