Electronic Arts is teaming up to work on an open world Star Wars game with online elements, according to a list of company jobs, they are searching for a leading online engineer to bring online features for an open world Star Wars project from their Vancouver studio.
EA is in the process of developing an open world Star Wars game
The list doesn’t provide any more details about the game, but it appears to be a continuation of the Star Wars project that Visceral Games was working on before EA closed the studio.
The game was a linear adventure game based on the story, which EA wanted to remake completely, and also vice president Patrick Soderlund talked about making it broader and more profound.
An open world game would fit the bill. EA also said at the time that the future work on the Visceral match would be led by the Vancouver studio, which is a coincidence.
When Visceral was closed, fans were concerned that the single-player project would become an absurdly monetized mass multiplayer. EA talked about doing something that players want to go back to and enjoy for a long time.
Then he clarified that by saying it wasn’t about (this) being a single-player game or needing to be a live service, it was more about getting to a point where the overall gaming experience was right for the players.
We’ll have to wait and see how the single-player mode and multiplayer swing in this Star Wars game in an open world. With the controversy that Star Wars Battlefront 2 caused with its loot boxes and microtransactions, we can bet, so we expect a lot of skeptical people.
