Despite the development of desktop operating systems over the years, some users are still nostalgic for versions that are now completely outdated, such as Windows 95.
In this sense, Felix Rieseberg is a slack developer who has set himself the goal of bringing Windows 95 to life as a desktop application for Windows, Linux, and Mac systems.
As we read in VentureBeat, this seems to be a full version of Windows 95, with its fully functional desktop, but at the moment it can only run Notepad, Paint and classic Microsoft games.
Sometimes, despite the few hours of the application’s life, there are already users who are interested in it and ask for support through Twitter.
Note that the Windows 95 application starts the Windows 95 desktop almost immediately and avoids the classic Windows 95 boot process for users.
Rieseberg uses the Electron Development Framework to port the application to desktop systems. The application source code is available in GitHub, from where you can download the versions for each system.
We don’t know if Microsoft can intervene because GitHub is now part of it and Windows 95 was one of its operating systems in the past.
