The popular German overclocker der8auer has quickly started with the overclocking battle in the new eighth generation Intel processors, bringing the new Intel Core i7 8700K Coffee Lake to 7.3Ghz. To achieve this, a delid has been made to the new processor and together with an ASUS Z370 Maximus X APEX has achieved this impressive overclock using liquid nitrogen.
Intel Core i7 8700K Coffee Lake reaches to 4.3GHz

During the video, we can see several records marked with this new processor. Such as the well-known Cinebench R15 benchmark, which has achieved 299cb mono core and 2253cb multicore ratings. Undoubtedly an extreme overclock, which is not within the reach of normal users. But on the other hand, it shows that the new processors are good overclockers. As we have seen some more modest results where they exceed 5Ghz easily with AIO liquid cooling or enthusiast range coolers.
Here you can see the result validated by CPU-Z:
Realistically, most users should be able to hit around 4.8GHz to 5GHz, depending on their setup, expertise, and luck of the draw. But rip off the integrated heat spreader (IHS) as Yang presumably did and drown the chip in LN2 (the photo above is not actually from Yang’s setup), and the sky is apparently the limit.
