How to Delete Sent Messages, Leave, and Delete a Group in WhatsApp

Everyone uses WhatsApp, and almost everyone knows how useful it is to create groups for communicating with friends, and colleagues, or organizing parties, meetings, and gatherings. Creating these groups is extremely simple. However, clearing a sent message, and leaving, and deleting a group is not as intuitive. So, we have created this practical and easy guide to help you.

How to Delete Messages in a Group

Start WhatsApp.
Select the WhatsApp chat from which you want to delete messages.
Press the button with the three dots, positioned at the top right of the display, and select More.
In the menu that appears, select Delete chat and confirm the decision to delete (possibly by removing the checkmark from “Keep important messages”).

Now the group no longer contains any old conversations but still keeps all users who may write new messages. Now it’s time to erase all participants in the group.

How to Remove Participants from WhatsApp Group

From within the group, re-select the button with the 3 dots at the top right.
Select Info Group.
On the edit page, where you can change the name, notifications, and more, all participants of the group are listed.
Select a participant at a time and in the menu, select the item “Remove participant’s name,” confirming with OK your choice.
The process is repeated for all the participants (there is no “Remove all” button, unfortunately).

Now that all the participants have been removed, you can leave the group.

How to Abandon a Group

Now that our group does not contain multiple messages and participants, you can leave.

Press the button again with the three dots in the upper right.
Select Info Group.
Choose Quit Group and confirm with OK your choice on the next screen.

At this point, you can finally delete the WhatsApp group.

How to Delete a Group

Now that the group is completely emptied, you can proceed with its deletion.

Press the button with the three dots in the upper right.
Select Info Group again.
Choose Delete Group and confirm by pressing Delete.

WhatsApp will return to the active chat page, and your group will no longer exist. This guide is for Android devices but is perfectly valid for the iPhone and Windows Mobile 10.
