Cryorig Frostbit, a great heatsink for M.2 SSDs

One of the drawbacks of M.2 format SSDs is that they become very hot during heavy use, which can reduce their performance and shorten their service life. Cryorig Frostbit is a new heatsink designed to be mounted on this type of storage media.

Cryorig Frostbit is a heat sink made up of two aluminum parts that are joined by a 6 mm copper heatpipe, making it the most advanced heatsink ever made for use in SSD M.2. The two aluminum parts have a finned design to maximize the heat exchange surface area, thus maximizing the cooling capacity. The upper aluminum part has a radiator design with 36 fins, which achieves a large air contact surface to transfer a lot of heat to it.

The unit measures 72 x 26.3 x 57 mm and weighs 56 grams, with its features it is capable of handling up to 12W of heat generated, which will help greatly reduce the temperature of the fastest M.2 SSDs on the market, which is not uncommon to reach 80ºC or even more when they are operating intensely for long periods of time.

The new Cryorig Frostbit heatsink should be compatible with all M.2 SSDs on the market, its price has not been announced so we will have to wait a little longer to know how much we will have to pay for it. It is possible that we will have new details in the Computex taking place at the end of May in Taipei.
