Chinese company Chuwi maintains several tablets and convertibles in the market with Windows 10, but also some product like the Hi10 Pro that is even more hybrid. This tablet includes dual-boot Android-Windows 10, so it is geared to those who want maximum flexibility in their devices.
Although it is a product that encompasses a lot, and it might seem in principle that it may hobble in some aspect, the first impression of this two in one is good since even its design catches the eye.
Design and hardware
The Hi10 Pro has a design based on an alloy that looks like magnesium, similar to other products with an economical price to those who want to give them a premium. The feel to the touch is good, unlike that of the products made of quality aluminum, but at least it gives a much better feeling than with those made of plastic. It is a first positive aspect of the tablet.
Huawei MateBook E, A light weight 2in1 tablet
The tablet has a size of 267 × 174 × 8.5 mm, with a weight of 562 g. It has a 10.1-inch matrix with a resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels, which is a better resolution than an FHD of 1920 × 1080 pixels, as there is something more space to work. At the top is a 2 Mpx camera, and a 2 Mpx camera at the rear. There is a physical boot button with the Windows logo on the right side, and on the top left, there is a load indicator.
Chuwi Hi10 Pro RAM
The processor is an Atom x5-Z8350 four cores together with 4 GB of RAM. It Includes 64 GB of storage of MMC type, so it will not be the fastest on the market and must be taken into account. You can not ask for much more for the price of the tablet – about 140 euros. Storage is distributed to 16 GB partition for Android and 48 GB for Windows, so it is essential to use a micro-SD card. The reader accepts up to 128 GB.
In the section of connections, the tablet has on its left side a USB 3.0 type C, a micro-HDMI, and a micro-USB, plus a 3.5 mm connector and micro-SD card reader. At the top are the volume and power buttons, and at the bottom of the sides are the stereo speakers. They have enough power, they listen well to watch a movie, but not so much for music because it gives a somewhat flat sound, and with a slight distortion at full power, that depends on the type of music.
Chuwi Hi10 Pro Keyboard
The tablet can be bought next to a base-keyboard with which already it could be considered a convertible or two in one and therefore to work more comfortably. But it is a necessary base, with small keys and a slightly gummy touch. You have to do a lot of force to press them, which can lead to more typing flaws than would be usual on an overhead keyboard. The included touch panel is no wonder either.
Lenovo Flexible Folding Notebook / Laptop Tablets
The base works correctly under Android and Windows and serves to expedite the use of the tablet in the daily work. On each side, there is a USB 2.0 port, but I have noticed that if you try to use both at the identical time, for example with a mouse and an external SSD, the SSD does not end up being recognized, or loses power to the Half use it. It is an energy problem supplied by the five-pin connector between tablet and keyboard. I would recommend connecting the SSD directly to the tablet.
Also separately you can buy a digital pen with internal rechargeable battery by micro-USB. And a button to connect it to the tablet. In general, it works correctly. But towards the edges of the screen does not work too well, since from time to time it does not detect the touches on the screen. To use it in specific situations, such as drawing, sketching or typing, can be very useful.
Diskio Pi An Open Source Tablet Powered By Raspberry
The combination of base-keyboard with the tablet can be somewhat dark, as it reaches 1.1 kg. But provides enough benefits in return to make it cost effective. Finally, the battery is 6500 mAh, and a charger with USB type C connector is provided, which enables recharge at 5V and 3A. I have not been able to recharge it without this charger. So it is better not to lose it and always carry it above.
Chuwi Hi10 Pro performance
This tablet includes an Atom Z8350 made at 14 nm. Which have four non-multithreaded physical cores operating at a base frequency of 1.44 GHz and a turbo of 1.92 GHz? It has an L2, cache of 2 MB, and a TDP in Around 2 W. Uses DDR3 memory at 1600 Mhz.
Acer Iconia Tab 10 A3-A50 Tablet With Quantum Dot
Intel sells this chip for $ 21 to assemblers. So it naturally will not shade desktop processors like a Core i5-6400 that costs $ 169. Even so, in the power-price relationship are better because of Intel’s intention to sell a larger volume of these chips for cheap tablets.
Chuwi Hi10 Pro GPU
The Hi10 Pro GPU is an integrated Intel HD Graphics 400. That is typical in this type of Atom processors. It is a low power GPU, with 200 MHz base frequency and 500 GHz turbo. But sufficient for tasks for which this tablet will be used. Such as video playback or simple games. It will not give much more power than other embedded GPUs from other Qualcomm chip-based (SoC) systems targeting mid-range or low-end devices, but it’s price at this tablet.
Chuwi Hi10 Pro Screen
The screen of this tablet is 10.1 inches IPS type with a resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels. Which will not be a suitable resolution to work under Windows and will have to resort to rescaling. Or you will see everything tiny. On Android, there are no problems with this because it does it automatically. And overall it looks very sharp and perfect.
At first glance, there are no defects in the screen, no light leaks, and some reflections it produces are typical for this type of screens, so in general, it is a good display for the computer that is. It has a brightness around 350 nits, and the color temperature is placed on the 7000 ºK.
Chuwi Hi10 Pro Wifi and storage
Chuwi includes a Realtek RTL8723DS chip as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modules, but with certain routers, it may not work properly. To solve the problem, you must install the updated drivers from Realtek, which can be downloaded from the company website. Once installed, the Wi-Fi will work correctly.
Galaxy Tab S3 Review: S pen and large screen Android Tablet
In the storage section, the tablet has 64 GB MMC storage. It is faster than a regular hard drive but may be slow in certain situations requiring small file processing, such as decompressing a file or installing an application. In normal application use, the feeling of speed is adequate. Since it has micro-SD card reader, storage space is not a problem.
Chuwi Hi10 Pro Autonomy
The tablet has a battery of 6500 mAh, which gives enough autonomy for around 5 or 6 hours of use of the screen. It takes around four hours to fully recharge with the included charger. Making it one of those devices that are best left to plug into the power or a PC whenever possible. During recharging, the tablet can be heated a little more than normal. As it occurs on many devices, but will not make it unmanageable.
Chuwi Hi10 Pro software
The first thing that will be seen when starting the tablet is a menu to select the operating system to boot. To choose between Windows 10 and Android 5.1. So the change between them is quite simple.
The use of Windows 10 requires a few hours updating to the latest version. And the latest security patches but can be employed without problems from the first minute. Unless for your home router it is necessary to update the drivers for the wifi. Such as I have indicated in the previous section.
The use of Android 5.1 – not upgradeable – included does not give absolutely any problem with the hardware. And can be utilized as is from the first time. You have access to the Play Store, so the applications are a perfectly covered section.
Apple iPad Pro, More details of the new tablet
The little graphics power under Windows 10 of Intel’s integrated graphics will make it somewhat demanding game like Overwatch does not boot or delay in doing. So due to EMC storage memory, but other less demanding or older ones can boot and operate at low resolutions, type 1280 x 1024 pixels. In general, it is not a tablet that can be played, except it is done with Android. Where the story is different and works well, according to the title.
