Chrome 70: Beta comes up with enhanced security and fingerprint sensor authentication

Google recently celebrated the tenth anniversary of its browser Chrome and introduced the new material Design, which did not create a positive atmosphere around the world. Other things have also changed a lot in the meantime and Google doesn’t stop working on the browser. Chrome 70 is currently being introduced in the beta channel and will also bring back one or two changes that are described in detail in a blog entry in the Chromium Blog.

To further increase security, the browser will no longer include an Android or iOS compilation number in the user agent identification string. For operators, this also means that they can no longer run statistics on who comes to the site with which version. In addition, if you enter a password or a user on an HTTP page in the Omni Toolbar, an animation with the warning “Not Secure” will appear warning you that this is not an HTTPS page.

The most interesting change is the activation of the default fingerprint sensor in Android and MacOS. Websites can now access it and use it as a second access factor.
