Gigabyte UD1000GM PG5: New 1000W power supply with PCIe-5 cable.0

Gigabyte power supplies have earned a reputation among PC users for the quality of their materials and performance. The company continues on this path with a 100% modular power supply with PCIe 5.0 connectors for powering next-generation graphics cards.

The new PCIe 5.0 connectors with a 12+4-pin configuration allow up to 600W to be powered from a single connector, making it easier to fit a graphics card into any PC case. The specification is officially called “12VHPWR”. The new PCIe standard has caused confusion in the OEM market because it is not clear how it will be documented. For example, Gigabyte calls this new cable in four different ways: PCIe Gen5 cable, 12+4-pin cable, 16-pin cable, and 12VHPWR.

The Gigabyte UDM1000GM PG5 power supply doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s believed that it could coincide with the launch of the upcoming RTX 3090 Ti, which will use the new PCIe 5.0 (12+4 pins). Other manufacturers such as ASUS, MSI, and Cooler Master have also shown some of their variants using the new cable, so it will become a new standard for high-end graphics cards in the coming years.

Gigabyte wouldn’t reveal what the price will be, but with these specs, it certainly won’t be cheap. We will keep you updated on any news.
