Battlefield V is one of the first games to offer DXR support. This new feature allows the latest GeForce RTX 20 series to demonstrate its capabilities. They are equipped with special cores, the RT cores.
The Battlefield V engine now has the necessary equipment to use real-time raytracing in some lighting displays. The goal is to go beyond the capabilities of rasterization to improve visual and immersion. To take advantage of this, it is necessary to have a GeForce RTX 2070, 2080 or 2080 Ti and Windows 10 v1809 alias October 2018 update.
As we will see in the video, the question of cost in performance is very important. The goal is to find the right balance to benefit from this technology while maintaining a correct frame rate. To achieve this, Battlefield V offers four efficiency levels for DXR. We work with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and maximum graphics options.
Activating the DXR has an impact on performance. Referring to the frame rate obtained without activation, the drop is 43% at low and 61% at high.
It is important to note that we work with an index and not with a frame rate value.
