It is not official yet and perhaps and it will be launched at Computex 2017. But the ASUS VivoBook S15 promises to be very interesting. It comes with 15.6 “Full HD notebook (in the size of 14 inches), with Intel Kaby Lake, GeForce 940MX and USB Type-C.
The ultra-slim frames are the latest fashion in the category of smartphones. But they seem to be conquering of laptops now a days. A few years after the launch of the Dell XPS 13 , here comes the first true notebook with InfinityDisplay.
So some companies have started to develop, produce and sell premium notebook with larger screen of the frame that hosts them. So in recent months were born Lenovo IdeaPad 720S 14-inch (the size of a 13 “) and the HP Envy 13 and ASUS Zenbook 3with 13.3-inch display (the size of a 11-12 inch).
ASUS has published (and then quickly removed but is still available in Google’s cache ) the product page of a new ASUS VivoBook S15. In addition with the Roland Quandt WinFuture that has managed to find the first study of new laptop in detail. It is a new notebook with 15-inch display with the chassis of a 14-inch laptop (in complex measuring 17.9 mm in thickness and weight of 1.7Kg) and thanks to the thin frames.

According to revealed information, ASUS VivoBook S15 will be equipped with an IPS display 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) with frames 7.8 mm for a ratio screen-to-body by 80% . There are certainly more compact laptops. But ASUS has managed to mount the webcam above the screen (and not below). So by using a few millimeters more than the top edge. Thus avoiding inconvenient locations for video calls and very difficult for a self-timer shots.
ASUS VivoBook S15 incorporates processors of Intel Kaby Lake-U (up to Core i7). With graphics enhancements of Nvidia GeForce 940MX. And 2GB of dedicated memory, up to 16GB DDR4-2133 RAM. And 2.5TB maximum storage with support for a hard disk 2TB and 512GB SSD. We expect different configurations for this notebook (in fact some shops have already started to populate their databases with acronyms of type “S510UA”, “S510UR” and “S510UQ” ). But for sure all the models will have a port USB 3.1 Type -C , a USB 3.1 Type-a, two USB 2.0, an HDMI, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth and a slot for microSD cards.
ASUS VIVOBOOK S15 With Advanced Features
The notebook has a backlit keyboard with 1.4mm stroke of the keys. In addition there is a fingerprint sensor of the touchpad in the upper part. And the support for the fast charging which ensures 60% of the battery charging in 50 minutes. The price of the new ASUS VivoBook S15 will be “accessible” to other models in the family, perhaps around 800-1000 euro. But we will know more at Computex 2017 where we expect this laptop to be officially launched.
