ARM reveals some details about its future CPUs

Cortex-A76 will be joined by Deimos and Hercules, also based on DynamIQ technology, to make room in laptops.

The ARM has published some details of its CPU roadmap relating to developments to be included by 2020.

The company has stated that after the Cortex-A76 CPU on DynamIQ technology will come as a continuation of Deimos.

Deimos, which is also based on DynamIQ, is planned for 2019 and will be delivered to the partners as early as 2018. It is characterized by the fact that it is optimized for 7-nanometer nodes.

Arm estimates that its next development will increase performance by more than 15%.

Next year the partners will already receive the Hercules codename CPU, which will appear on the 2020 roadmap and share DynamIQ technology and 7-nanometer optimization with earlier products. But it will also be ready for the 5 nanometers.

In the case of Hercules, in addition to improved computing power, a higher performance and space efficiency of 10% is expected.

Arm explains that he “wants to take advantage of the disruptive innovation that 5G will bring to all client devices.

The company expects to “penetrate the x86 domain and gain significant market share in Windows laptops and chrome books over the next five years,” said Nandan Nayampally, vice president and general manager of Arm’s Client Line of Business.
