Apple has just announced two new Apple Watches. The first is the Apple Watch Series 6 and the second is the Apple Watch SE.
The overall design remains the same, but the Apple Watch Series 6 is even better. There is a new golden aluminum face, a new blue aluminum face, and the first (red) version.
It will be available in both 40 mm and 44 mm sizes and will be compatible with all Apple wristbands, old and new.
The big news about the Apple Watch Series 6 is that it can measure the oxygen levels in the blood. Apple says that this is done using red and infrared red light and it takes only 15 seconds to measure.
The Apple Watch Series 6 can measure blood oxygen levels in the background, even when you sleep.
Internally, the Apple Watch Series 6 is powered by the company’s new S6 processor, which is based on Apple’s A13 Bionic processor and offers a performance increase of up to 20 percent over the old S5 processor.
The processor is also more efficient, so the always-bright display of the Apple Watch Series 6 is up to 2.5 times brighter, so you can read it easily even when you don’t lift your wrist. The battery life is up to 18 hours.
The new Apple Watch Series 6 also has many new sensor functions. For example, there is now a permanently on the altimeter. It also uses the U1 chip, first seen in last year’s iPhone, which allows wireless positioning over short distances.
Apple also announced the Apple Watch SE, a model that will be located between the new Apple Watch Series 6 and the older Apple Watch Series 3.
According to Apple, the new Apple Watch SE integrates all of the “essential features of the Apple Watch into a modern design that customers love – and all at a more affordable price”.
Essentially, the Apple Watch SE has the majority of the identical sensors, but with a slightly less powerful processor and without the ability to measure oxygen levels in the blood and obtain ECG readings.
Internally, the older S5 processor is used – the same one used in last year’s Apple Watch Series 5.
In terms of design, the Apple Watch SE has a retina display with thinner bezels and curved corners. Apple says that the display of the Apple Watch SE is 30 percent larger than the display of the Apple Watch Series 3.
The Apple Watch SE measures 44 mm or 40 mm and will be compatible with all Apple wristbands and bracelets.
Both the Apple Watch Series 6 and the Apple Watch SE can be ordered immediately and will be available in stores from Friday, September 18, 2020.
The Apple Watch Series 6 starts at $599 for GPS-only models and $749 for GPS and cellular models. The Apple Watch Series 6 will be available in both aluminum and stainless steel cases. As usual, there will also be Nike and Hermes versions. The Apple Watch Edition will also be available in two versions – Natural Finish and Space Black Titanium.
