Apple smartwatch lineup revamps, includes Apple Watch SE 2 and Sportsman Edition next year

Apple is planning to launch a new Apple Watch SE 2 watch next year as well as a new Apple Watch Sport model specifically designed for the ruggedness of sports athletes, which will reportedly be enhanced in terms of durability.

The Apple Watch SE was introduced last year as a cheaper variant of the smartwatches from the Cupertino-based company. Apple dominates this market segment, but its smartwatches are expensive, so a slightly cheaper model is a way to reach more users. The company seems to be satisfied with the results of this model, considering that a successor is already being planned.

The Apple Watch SE will get a successor next year

This is something that has not yet been confirmed by the company, but several leaks already point to it.

This new Apple Watch SE would not have the more advanced features that we are used to from the brand’s watches. Features like an electrocardiogram, blood oxygen measurement, and others may not be present in this model to lower the price. However, we will have to wait and see if Apple is surprised and keeps some more advanced features, but provides a lower price for this smartwatch.

It is expected that this new smartwatch will be launched sometime next year. It is not known if we will have to wait for the fall event or if we can expect an official launch sometime in the spring.

Apple clearly dominates the wearables market with a market share of over 30%. The launch of a cheaper watch like the new Apple Watch SE could help the company take market share from its competitors, most of which are launching cheaper and simpler watches. We will have to wait a few more months to learn more about this new launch.
