In the USA, classrooms have become a competitive market. Google, Microsoft and Apple vie for the favour of schools and try to equip them with their hardware and software. Most recently, Apple fell a little behind and launched a new offensive in March to make the new entry-level 9.7-inch iPad particularly appealing for use in schools. A new and cheaper pen was developed in collaboration with Logitech and new software was introduced.

For participants in Apple’s education program, the company today launched the Schoolwork app, which was launched in March. It is intended to provide teachers and their students with a digital book of tasks and homework. Teachers can assign individual tasks directly to their students. These can be web links, PDFs or other documents. Sections of educational apps can also be set as a task. The teacher can then monitor the progress of his students in real time.

Focus on data protection and connection to Classroom

Apple emphasizes the high level of privacy and security features that are part of the education program. Thus, only educational institutions should really see the accounts of the students, the data is not passed on.
In addition, the Schoolwork app is linked to the newly introduced Classroom app. It allows teachers to control students’ iPads and share content with them.
