Apple AR glasses to launch with its second-generation VR headset in late 2024

Apple is expected to combine AR and VR technology in one device, but in the meantime, the company has been working on new AR glasses. According to Jeff Pu, an analyst at Haitong Intl Tech Research, Apple’s AR glasses will be launched by the end of 2024.

In a report seen by 9to5Mac, Pu mentions that Lixion Precision will continue to be one of Apple’s main device suppliers between late 2022 and 2024. Of all the devices, the analyst specifically mentions products such as the Apple Watch Series 8, the iPhone14, and Apple’s AR/VR headset. Not only that, but Pu also says that Apple plans to launch a new pair of AR glasses in the second half of 2024.

Details on Apple’s AR glasses are sparse at the moment, and it’s believed that, unlike Apple’s AR/VR headsets, the new AR glasses will be heavily dependent on the iPhone due to design limitations. The first-generation Apple Watch.

Apple’s mixed reality headset, on the other hand, should have a more robust design to accommodate the powerful hardware, be able to handle AR and VR content in high resolution, and be independent of other Apple devices.

While most rumors are still focused on Apple’s first-generation AR/VR headset, Pu mentions in his report that the company is already planning a second-generation headset to be launched in late 2024 along with a new pair of AR glasses. The analyst continues to believe that Apple’s new headset will hit the market in early 2023.

While the announcement of Apple’s headset and AR glasses is still some time away, Jeff Pu confirmed that Lixion Precision is ramping up its production line for the new iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8 models that will be launched later this year. The report mentions the new “S8 and high-end S8 watches,” suggesting that Apple will release two new Apple Watch models this fall.

However, according to previous reports from Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg, Apple is planning to release a new generation Apple Watch SE that will likely use the same chip as the Apple Watch Series 8, which is likely why Pu reported that there will be two new S8 models.
