According to media reports, Apple recently prepared the A14 chip, which contains a variety of types, besides the A14 there are the A14X and the A14T. We have already seen the former in the iPhone 12 series, and the latter two will also be released in the near future and together with the debut of Apple’s own GPU.
While the iPhone 12 series has been on the market for over half a month, Apple apparently has a large number of new products in the pipeline. Therefore Apple is preparing the processors of the A14 series in advance.
The report also mentions that all the above described A14 series processors have TSMC’s 5nm process foundry. TSMC’s 5nm process reportedly started production in the first quarter of this year and brought them nearly $1 billion in revenues in the third quarter of this year, representing 8% of their revenues in the three quarters.
In addition, Apple’s proprietary GPU is also complemented by TSMC’s 5nm process. If the scoop of the media is true, Apple will launch three processors of the A14 series at once this year, which is something we can be looking forward to.
