Apple A12X Bionic chip unlocks performance increase of 90%

With the introduction of the iPhone in September, Apple made a significant leap forward in mobile processing. The company was one of the first to implement a 7nm processor in the industry. The Apple A12 chip included 7 billion transistors, a six-core processor and a new 8-core neural engine. Now, with the introduction of the iPad Pro, Apple has announced the A12X Bionic, which exceeds its predecessor by far.

A12X Bionic delivers 90% more performance than its predecessor

First, that was reported by Guilherme Rambo, who has an excellent reputation for filtering details of new Apple products, ensures that the iPad Pro 2018 will feature an A12X Bionic processor, a faster and improved version of the chip inside the new iPhone XS and iPhone XR.

The Apple A12X has 10 billion transistors, an eight-core processor and a multi-core performance that is 90% faster than its predecessor.

As expected, Apple has significantly changed the A12X chip compared to the original A12. The chip has 3 billion more transistors than its little brother and increases the number of transistors to 10 billion. In addition to this increase, Apple has also added two more cores to the A12X Bionic, bringing the total number of cores to eight.

Apple’s A12X Bionic Celebrates Premiere with New iPad Pro

Apple’s A12X Bionic chip is first introduced with the new iPad Pro. Apple is very confident with this new chip and made sure that the iPad Pro is faster than 92% of laptops, including all Intel Core i7 processors. The clock frequency of the CPU and GPU is also slightly higher (which is allowed due to the upper surface where heat is dissipated). Apple has indicated that the new iPad Pro is as powerful as an Xbox One S.

In addition to the overall performance boost, Apple has integrated a neural engine on an iPad for the first time, making it ready for Core ML tasks. The A12X also supports USB Type C, so the iPad Pro does not use a USB flash connection. It also enables the necessary power for augmented reality applications.

With the new version of the iPad Pro, Apple has also announced the second generation of the Apple Pencil. Key features of the new pen include a magnetic attachment that allows it to be attached to the tablet and easily charged wirelessly and new gestures that allow the Notes app to be opened quickly by double-clicking.

The new iPad Pros are available in 11-inch and 12.9-inch sizes with minimal f-stops, FaceID, and no start button. It will be released on November 7, starting at $799 for the 11-inch model and $999 for the 12.9-inch model.
