Despite the rumors that the next 20th was the day for the official release of the new version of Android, and despite the fact that less than two weeks ago was the last preview, the DP 5, was finally chosen by the company today to release its new version, called Android 9 Pie.
This version is an important update, as it has many new features both for the user and internally and today begins to be used on all pixel phones via OTA (also reaching the Essential phones) to soon reach the phones of other companies that also participated in the Android P Beta.
Among other things, Android 9 Pie updates the user interface to Google’s updated design guidelines, offers a new slide navigation system, renews the notification field, adds native support for phones with on-screen slots and already offers custom enhancements such as battery life with the Adaptive Battery feature, which prioritizes battery consumption for the most popular applications; Adaptive Brightness, which adjusts screen brightness based on user preferences and environments; App Actions, which contains contextual suggestions, among many other new features, some of which are not even available in the previews launched in March.
By the way, there are Android 9 Foot features that will not yet be available, such as Slice, which provides a quick view of installed applications, or Digital WellBeing, an initiative that will achieve features to reduce phone abuse, including a dashboard with the display of application usage, lockdown timer, among others, the pixel phones this fall to reach Android One phones later this year.
If you are interested in this initiative, you can already register in the beta, which works from today, if you have Android 9 Foot installed.
It is remarkable that a short name is used as the name for this new version, and it was decided to call it Android 9 instead of just Android 9.0. Anyway, it’s already here.
