Following the official release of Android 9 “Pie” – or Android P – on August 6, Google has worked on a number of improvements to the low-end device versions. In this sense now presents us with an Android 9 Pie Go Edition to improve the experience of use despite the specifications of this type of device.
Android 9 Pie Go Edition, will introduce some of the major new features that were announced with the original version of Android Pie, such as Gestures, updated emojis, adaptive brightness and user interface improvements.
What really stands out in this new version is that it weighs only 500 MB, much less than Android Oreo, making it an excellent improvement for these low-end terminals, which normally do not have large amounts of memory.
As announced by Google in its blog, this Go edition will include a tool to monitor data usage, but it was not specified whether this is displayed differently from the normal version of Android.
Mountain View also mentioned that this version would be faster and offer significant security improvements.
This Go edition will include redesigned applications that take advantage of the operating system, such as Google Go, YouTube Go, Maps Go, etc.; we will also find a messaging application that is now 50% lighter and offers spam protection.
To enjoy this version, it won’t be necessary to wait for next year, as Google has announced that the Go edition will be available this fall, but hasn’t mentioned when the exact date will be.
He also reported that Android Go is now available on 200 different devices in more than 120 countries, including India, South Africa, the United States, Nigeria, and Brazil.
