Just a few days after the launch of the Zen 4 processors (Ryzen 7000), the Zen 5 already receives software support from the HWiNFO tool. The fifth generation of the Zen CPU architecture will start shipping in 2014.
AMD Zen 5 gets early support in HWiNFO
The Ryzen 7000 processors have made their debut on the market, but the wheel doesn’t stop. AMD has been working on Zen 5 for a long time, which should also have 3D V cache variants and an improved Zen 5C variant.
The Ryzen 7000 is already on the market and uses the Zen 4 architecture, codenamed Raphael. However, Zen 4 is not only part of the desktop CPUs, but will also be used in the EPYC Genoa CPUs and the Phoenix Point and Dragon notebook APUs. More CPUs with 3D VCache and improved Zen 4 will be added in the future.
Zen 5 will be launched in 2024 but is already supported by the HWiNFO monitoring tool. This would be good news because it means that the development of the new architecture is on schedule. It is possible that the tool already has early information about the architecture and includes product IDs and other data.
AMD’s plan for the next two years is as follows:
- Zen 4 – 5nm (2022)
- Zen 4 V-Cache 5nm (2023)
- Zen 4C – 4nm (2023)
- Zen 5 – 4nm (2024)
- Zen 5 V-Cache – 4nm (2024+)
- Zen 5C – 3nm – (2024+)
Among the improvements expected with this architecture is that the entire architecture will be redesigned from the ground up to deliver higher performance and improved efficiency.
AMD has confirmed that the new Zen 5 architecture will hit the market in 2024, confirming earlier rumors. Zen 5 CPUs will come in the three variants mentioned above. The chip itself has been designed from the ground up with a completely new microarchitecture focused on improved performance and efficiency, a redesigned front end, and a stronger focus on optimizing AI and machine learning.
