AMD Zen 3 restraints may put motherboard manufacturers in tough positions

After the BIOS problems in the first AM4 motherboards, which prevented the storage of new microcodes due to lack of size in their small 16MB, several manufacturers exchanged their Bios chips for 32MB chips in the new models, and some even promised compatibility with all future Ryzen AM4s. This promise was disappointed by AMD, who indicated that the future Ryzen Zen 3 will only be compatible with B550 and X570, breaking the manufacturers’ promises.

However, if the manufacturers who have made this promise do not ultimately provide support, they could be denounced by buyers for misleading advertising beyond the manufacturer’s control. If the company has promised something, it must keep it, and if not, it must abide by the consequences.

What do we think:

Based on past experience, AMD will most likely refer to the minimal support given to manufacturers, as opposed to limitations that say “they must accept it, no more, no less”. In this way, there will inevitably be some manufacturers who provide updates for their motherboards with older chipsets and force other manufacturers to do the same in order not to turn out bad for their customers, as happened with the Zen 2-based Ryzen 3000, so that the new Ryzen Zen 3 can be used on 400 series or maybe even 300 series motherboards. It’s not confirmed, so don’t take it that way.
