AMD stocks could overcome the bullish barriers by introducing 7nm Zen 2 CPU and GPU technology at the Next Horizon event

Although AMD’s turnover has grown, still the share price continues to fall sharply. But the coming weeks and months are being followed with excitement. The trade press has been surprisingly invited to an event tomorrow, Tuesday, November 6, in San Francisco. That might be an attempt to gain the stock market value by unveiling the latest technology in CPU and GPU market. The event is called “Next Horizon” and is intended to unveil Zen 2, the new architecture of the chips engraved in 7 nm. AMD is gearing up to make some announcements about its next-generation products tomorrow at the Next Horizon event, however, we’ve been hearing rumors about the long-awaited Zen 2 architecture that will power the Ryzen 3000 series of chips.

AMD stocks expect to reach their best positions

Ryzen and Epyc processors are selling, but almost all other areas are giving up, sometimes massively, for example, the cryptocurrency mining business collapse causes reduced sales of Radeon GPUs. AMD considers that “graphics card sales have declined considerably as a result of overstocking”, which could only be partially offset by Ryzen’s sales, as one of the main reasons. The decline in the mining graphics card business is also fully reflected in AMD, although the manufacturer continues to say that only “a high single-digit percentage” in the same quarter last year could be directly attributed to mining.

7nm engraving technology benefits

Tomorrow’s AMD conference in San Francisco is expected to list new technical references and even new products that might fall under the tree. Rather, the corridor noises show a general presentation of the improvements made possible by the 7nm etching refinement, i.e. more power with lower energy consumption. AMD Ryzen 3000 based on Zen 2 would come with major improvements in IPC and frequencies.

Vega 20 and 7nm Zen 2 potential rivals of Intel and NVidia

The general public will have to wait until the first quarter of 2019. In this time, AMD will have to work twice as hard to conquer a market that remains firmly anchored at Intel, despite the difficulties of effectively meeting demand. But tomorrow’s event will also be an opportunity for the curious to take a look at what the brand is preparing for us with its 7nm chips. The frequencies and IPC performance of AMD Zen 2 based processors will be much higher than what we currently see in the Zen+ based chip series. AMD will be ready to show this at tomorrow’s event.

AMD is going to speak a lot about its 7nm products, which include both CPUs and GPUs. While the GPU talk would focus mainly on the Vega 20, with a possible look at AMD’s Navi GPU coming out in 2019, the CPU talk would focus on the architecture of the next generation AMD Zen 2 CPU.

AMD Zen Architecture Life Cycle Expectations

AMD’s Zen architecture has been in hands of AMD for a long time. And AMD design team started working on Zen+ immediately after completing work on the first Zen architecture (2016). Zen+ (Ryzen 2000) was an improvement over the original design, but most AMD engineers were focused on designing Zen 2. In February this year, it was reported that AMD had completed the design of the chip architecture and would be available for testing this year with a range of products available from 2019.

After all, tomorrow’s announcements will focus on commercial launches in the coming months. AMD will initially focus on EPYC and Radeon Instinct before focusing again on the general public in the first half of 2019. So don’t expect anything new to put under the tree, except the Radeon RX 590s, which is not supposed to revolutionize the genre.
