The new AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2000 series is launched! And with that, we already have the specifications of the new processors and their prices.
The top model ‘Threadripper 2990WX’ comes on the market with 32 cores and 64 threads! In short, the damage the company caused last year has doubled! This will cost about $1799, with a boost frequency of 4.2GHz, which is impressive given the enormous number of cores.
Interestingly, it is a frequency that is quite high in the 5.0 GHz range, as Intel has demonstrated in Computex 2018 in its 28-core processor! This with up to 4 cores, plus 8 threads, is….. without using a conditioned arc to fix the system 🙂
The Threadripper 2970WX is equipped with 24 and 48 threads, which are suitable for processing Intel for a new platform X299. In addition, this chip is even $500 cheaper than the top class, making it a very affordable alternative and a powerful workstation.
The Threadripper 2950X and 2920X processors already have another goal, namely….. The Market of Enthusiasts/Gaming! Both will be available for less than $1,000.
The AMD Threadripper 2950X has 16 cores and 32 threads for $899! Then we have 2920X with 12 cores and 24 threads for $649! Both are 180W TDP.
Finally, the plans of Intel, which arrived on the Internet, the company will offer only 28-core processors in 2018! From this point of view, AMD now has a significant technological advantage over its competitor.
Also, it will be very interesting to see how Intel will compete! Then AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2000 will finally be released.
