AMD Ryzen 7 3750X and 3850X, on time checkmate to Comet Lake-S

AMD responds to Intel Comet Lake-S with “Matisse Refresh”, an update that will bring the new Ryzen 7 3750X and 3850X.

We love this kind of news because it best shows the rivalry between AMD and Intel. After the release of the 10th generation of Intel desktop processors (Comet Lake-S), AMD is fighting back with a “Matisse Refresh”, an update that will bring two new chips to the market: Ryzen 7 3750X and 3850X. We will tell you everything we know.

Ryzen 7 3750X and 3850X: The Empire strikes back

After the launch of Comet Lake-S a few weeks ago, AMD plans to “smash” Intel’s plans with “Matisse Refresh”. For the time being it would be a small family consisting of 2 Ryzen 7: the 3750X and 3850X.

They will be based on the 7nm from Zen 2, but we could see new features in them such as a faster frequency or innovations like the Ryzen 3 3300X. Currently, the Ryzen 9 3900X stands against the i9-10900K and the i7-10700K, although the latter would rather correspond to the 3800X, 3700X together with the higher range i5.

Since 2019, there have been indications of the 3750X, so it seems that AMD has been planning this move for quite some time. These rumors were fuelled by a GIGABYTE slide show presentation of their B550 plates. It shows AMD’s roadmap for the AM4 platform. To the right above “Picasso” is “Matisse & Refresh”.

It is therefore no longer a rumor, but reality. And not only that, this slide gives reason to believe that “Renoir” is missing the PCIe Gen 4.0. We also see that the A520 chipset will arrive in August.

Date of release

All the indications suggest that these chips will see the light of day in early June. This would mean that they would be available for purchase in July, just one month later.
